Huawei‘s upcoming P70 series is touted as the company’s most powerful imaging flagship to date. The main camera of the Huawei P70 series is identified as the OV50H sensor, which boasts a large 1/1.3-inch size and 50 million pixels, with a single pixel size of 1.2μm.
Additionally, the P70 series supports H/V QPD, meaning it can achieve horizontal and vertical four-pixel phase focusing. This feature is more advanced than Sony’s IMX989 and marks the first CMOS from OmniVision to support H/V QPD. The OV50H sensor is capable of shooting 8K videos and uses an on-chip pixel restoration algorithm. It supports 120 frames per second and 60 frames per second in 4K video mode.
The device also offers various HDR modes adaptable to different scenes, supports full 50 million pixel Bayer output, and a 2x crop zoom feature with interlaced HDR in crop zoom mode. Notably, the Huawei P70 series will be released in three versions: medium, large, and extra-large cups. The new products are expected to feature Huawei’s self-developed Kirin chips and are set to debut in the first half of next year.
Analyst Kuo Mingchi has stated that the P70 series under development is a significant milestone for Huawei. He anticipates that this new flagship series will surpass the sales performance of the Huawei P60 series, making it Huawei’s most formidable imaging flagship worth looking forward to.
