Huawei Starts HarmonyOS NEXT Developer Preview Official Page With Key Features

On the afternoon of January 18, Huawei announced the opening of applications for the HarmonyOS NEXT developer preview, known as the HarmonyOS Galaxy version. The Huawei Developer Alliance has now launched the official page for the HarmonyOS NEXT Developer Preview, revealing key features of the new system.

Key features of the HarmonyOS NEXT Developer Preview include

  1. DevEco Studio NEXT Developer Preview1: This supports the development of applications and services for the HarmonyOS Next Developer Preview version. It introduces new functionalities such as code refactoring, build visualization analysis, multi-scenario in-depth tuning, application health checks, and a local simulator for ARM versions, all aimed at enhancing the efficiency of application and service development.
  2. DevEco Service: This is the cloud service center for HarmonyOS developers, offering a wealth of resources and services. It provides multi-dimensional automated testing capabilities and focuses on providing cloud services for HarmonyOS development tools.
  3. ArkTS: The application development language for the HarmonyOS ecosystem. While maintaining the basic syntax style of TypeScript (TS), it further enhances static checking and analysis through standardization. This allows for the detection of more errors during the development phase before the program runs, improving code robustness and achieving better performance. It also offers capabilities like declarative UI paradigms and state management support, enabling developers to create high-performance applications more efficiently and naturally.
  4. ArkUI: A declarative UI development framework for building distributed application interfaces. It uses concise UI syntax, a rich set of UI components, and real-time interface preview tools to help developers improve the efficiency of HarmonyOS application interface development by 30%. Developers can use a set of ArkTS APIs to provide a vivid and smooth user interface experience across multiple HarmonyOS devices.
  5. HarmonyOS SDK: This is a collection of open capabilities for HarmonyOS application and meta-service development. It offers a comprehensive range of open capabilities in six major areas, including application framework, application services, systems, media, graphics, and AI. This helps in building innovative HarmonyOS native applications and meta-services, bringing a transformative all-scenario experience.

During the HarmonyOS Ecosystem Thousand Sails Ceremony held in the afternoon, Huawei stated that the HarmonyOS Galaxy version would achieve six ultimate native experiences: native refinement, native applications, native smoothness, native security, native intelligence, and native interconnectivity.

Huawei also mentioned that the first batch of over 200 HarmonyOS native applications is accelerating in development. Partnering with third-party SDKs, Huawei aims to provide developers with efficient full-link development tools and capabilities.
