Huawei’s Mate 70 series debuted the Red Maple lens, now available in budget-friendly models:

Fast Technology reported that blogger Dingjiao Digital revealed that Huawei will soon bring its original color imaging capabilities, specifically the “Red Maple” lens, to mid-range and budget-friendly models. This indicates that Huawei plans to popularize original color imaging capabilities across its entire product line, allowing more users to enjoy a more accurate color experience.

The blogger further revealed that Huawei’s mid-range and budget-friendly models will be equipped with the first-generation Red Maple Original Color camera. This lens first debuted on the Huawei Mate 70 series in 2024, and will now be rolled out to a wider range of products.

It is understood that the Red Maple Original Color Lens is a multispectral sensor whose core function is to achieve accurate color reproduction by sensing the ambient spectrum. This camera has more than 1.5 million multispectral channels, enabling it to capture image-level environmental spectral information.

Its working principle is similar to that of a professional “color camera”. While acquiring an image, it simultaneously records the fine color data of each area in the picture, providing rich basic information for subsequent color calibration.

In the actual processing flow, the system fuses and compares this precise spectral information with the images captured by the main camera and other imaging lenses. Then, AI algorithms calculate the colors that are closest to reality, thereby performing precise color calibration and optimization on the photo to ensure that the final image effect is closer to what the human eye sees.

This technology solves two major challenges in mobile phone photography. First, it effectively eliminates the color cast problem of mobile phone image sensors, making color reproduction more accurate. Second, it ensures color consistency across multiple cameras, maintaining color uniformity in images shot at different focal lengths. Ultimately, it achieves accurate color reproduction that is exactly what you see, making photos closer to real-life scenes.

Since its debut on the Mate 70 series, the Maple Leaf Original Color camera has been widely used in multiple flagship and high-end product lines of Huawei, including the Mate, Pura, and nova series, and has been continuously iterated and upgraded. This time, Huawei is bringing this advanced color technology down to the sub-1000 yuan price range, which will significantly enhance the imaging competitiveness of models in this price range and allow more users to enjoy flagship-level color performance.
