iPhone 18 Pro is the first to use TSMC 2nm: Apple will raise prices

According to the latest news, Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro series to be launched in 2026 is expected to be equipped with the A20 Pro processor for the first time. This chip will use TSMC’s advanced 2nm process technology for the first time.

However, this technological upgrade has also brought about a significant increase in chip costs. It is said that the price of the A20 Pro processor has soared from the current US$50 to US$85, an increase of 70% .

This cost increase may be reflected in the selling price of the final product, indicating that the market pricing of the iPhone 18 Pro may be adjusted upward.

Although the specific costs of TSMC manufacturing processors for Apple have not been officially confirmed, the industry generally believes that as manufacturing processes continue to improve, TSMC’s production costs will naturally increase, which is undoubtedly a positive factor for its revenue growth.

Data shows that the price of TSMC’s 2nm wafers is expected to be far more than $30,000. In sharp contrast, the current price range of 3nm wafers is about $18,500 to $20,000. Since TSMC entered the 7nm era, its wafer prices have continued to rise. The price of 7nm wafers has exceeded the $10,000 mark, and the price of 5nm wafers has reached a high of $16,000.

In October this year, chip giants such as Qualcomm and MediaTek chose TSMC’s 3nm process to build their flagship products. This decision further pushed up chip costs and indirectly led to an increase in terminal product prices. The smartphone market has therefore ushered in a wave of price increases.

Semiconductor industry observers predict that given the high cost of advanced process technology, chipmakers are likely to pass on these cost pressures to downstream customers or end consumers. In this context, as one of the first products to adopt TSMC’s 2nm process, the price adjustment of the iPhone 18 Pro has undoubtedly become the focus of market attention.
