OnePlus announces Turbo 6 with impressive battery life and a minimal camera island

OnePlus is planning to officially unveil its two new smartphones, the Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V, on January 8. Even though the official launch is still a few days away, OnePlus has provided fans with a sneak peek by sharing some details about the phones’ specifications, along with two videos that highlight their design and key features.

OnePlus has officially confirmed that the much-rumored 9,000 mAh battery will be included in its upcoming smartphones, the Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V. Along with this exciting news about battery capacity, OnePlus also revealed a small but notable design detail regarding the Turbo 6: the camera island on the back of the device extends only 1.7mm from the rear surface, giving the phone a sleek and compact look while keeping the camera bump minimal.

The camera island on the Turbo 6 isn’t completely flush with the back like some RedMagic phones, but it comes very close. Since the Turbo line isn’t designed with camera performance as the main priority, the camera bump can be kept very small. Even though the camera isn’t perfectly flat, this is still an achievement worth noting.

The OnePlus Turbo 6 is equipped with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, which provides very high performance for gaming and other demanding tasks while the slightly lower end Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 powers the Turbo 6V which is still capable for most everyday uses. The Turbo 6 features a display with a 165Hz refresh rate offering ultra-smooth visuals for scrolling, gaming and animations whereas the Turbo 6V has a 144Hz screen which is slightly slower but still delivers a very fluid experience. In terms of colors the Turbo 6 will be available in silver, black and green, while the Turbo 6V will be offered in blue, black and white.
