Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra’s standout new display feature verified in One UI 8.5

Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra may not bring many major changes compared to the previous model, but one feature that has caught a lot of attention is truly interesting. The phone’s screen is rumored to be able to become invisible to everyone except the owner, keeping the display private. This feature has now been officially confirmed through One UI 8.5, the operating system that the S26 Ultra will be running at launch.

Samsung calls this feature Privacy Display, and it allows you to hide the contents of your screen from anyone nearby. This is especially convenient in public situations, such as when you are commuting on buses or trains, because it keeps your information completely private.

From the One UI 8.5 screenshots displayed above, it appears that the Privacy Display feature will come with two intensity options. The first is the standard default setting, and the second is called “Maximum privacy protection.” This stronger setting is expected to narrow the viewing angle of the screen, making it much harder for anyone nearby to see what is on your phone.

The Privacy Display feature can also be set to turn on automatically in certain situations, and you will probably be able to customize this using the Modes and Routines app. For instance, you could make it so that the feature always activates when leaving home, leaving work, or both. In addition, there is a Quick Settings toggle for fast, on-the-go access, so you can manually switch the feature on or off whenever needed.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is available in two storage options. The first version comes with 256GB of internal storage and 12GB of RAM, priced at $849.99 in the United States or €890.00 in Europe. The second version offers 512GB of storage with 12GB of RAM, and it costs $849.99 in the US or €1,015.00 in Europe.
