Samsung’s US Foldable Reign Could Be Shaken by Apple

According to Counterpoint Research, Samsung is expected to retain its position as the market leader in the foldable smartphone segment in 2025, followed by Motorola which is projected to hold a significant market share.

Samsung’s strong position is supported by continued technological innovation, the rollout of a new Fan Edition foldable and growing anticipation for its upcoming TriFold model.

Next Year, Apple Could Shake Up the Foldable Market

According to market projections, Samsung is expected to maintain its leadership in the foldable smartphone category through 2026, while Apple’s upcoming product launches could drive it to a strong second place by the end of next year.

Although Apple has not officially announced a foldable phone, experts predict the company could enter the market by late 2026.

Such a move would likely reshape the market, especially in the United States, where Apple commands a dominant position and significant consumer loyalty.

While Apple may struggle to overtake Samsung in under a year, its foldable iPhone could dominate Motorola’s foldable offerings by the end of 2026. Analysts predict the U.S. foldable market will expand by 51% year-on-year in 2026.
