Seven Years of Android Upgrades Coming to Galaxy Z TriFold

After months of rumors and speculation, Samsung has finally announced the Galaxy Z TriFold. The company unveiled its multi-fold smartphone today and shared many confirmed details about it. Since this is a premium flagship model, users naturally expected excellent software updates and Samsung has confirmed it will provide this level of support.

Guaranteed Security Updates for Seven Years

The Galaxy Z TriFold is set to receive seven years of Android operating system updates, just like Samsung’s other high end smartphones. Along with this, the device will also receive seven years of security updates, with support expected to continue through December 31, 2032.

Samsung is launching the Galaxy Z TriFold with Android 16 and One UI 8 already installed. This means the device is expected to continue receiving updates until Android 23, along with its corresponding version of One UI 8, which is still far off in the future.

The Galaxy Z TriFold opens up to reveal a large 10-inch display, which gives users roughly the same screen space as having three 6.5-inch smartphones side by side. This design allow users to run three apps simultaneously, offering excellent multitasking capabilities.  Samsung has also included a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and 16GB of RAM to ensure top level performance.

Samsung is initially making the Galaxy Z TriFold available only in select markets. The device comes with a price tag of approximately $2,500 and will first be released in South Korea on December 12. After this launch, other regions such as the United States, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, China, and Taiwan are also expected to receive the device. Samsung has not yet confirmed when the device will be available in these other markets, so international buyers will need to stay tuned for more information.
