For Sony, its smartphone projects are becoming increasingly useless, which has forced the official to make adjustments.
According to the latest report from foreign media, after the Japanese mobile phone manufacturer had previously adopted the production model of third-party manufacturers for mid-range mobile phones, it will soon outsource the manufacturing business of high-end smartphones.
The report mentioned that this is not temporary, but likely a long-term strategy. In fact, you can no longer find the word “smartphone” at Sony’s production base in Thailand.
Sony has historically had three production bases involved in smartphone production – two in Thailand and one in China. Now, none of these bases lists “smartphones” anymore.
The report also states that the recently released Xperia 1 VII is the first phone to be assembled by a third-party manufacturer.
Prior to this, Sony released the Xperia 1Ⅶ mobile phone, priced at around 10,000 yuan. The whole machine looked very average in competitiveness, but the official emphasized that the new phone incorporated the high sound quality of the Walkman DNA and used a 3.5mm gold-plated audio jack to minimize transmission loss.
