The most powerful standard edition Xiaomi has ever produced! The Xiaomi 18 boasts a 6.4-inch screen.

Xiaomi 18 is expected to be officially released in September this year. As the release date approaches, details about this new phone are gradually emerging.

According to a well-known blogger, the screen size of the standard version of the Xiaomi 18 is slightly larger than its predecessor, while the current engineering sample size remains around 6.4 inches.

Looking back at its predecessor, the Xiaomi 17 had a 6.3-inch screen with a 1.5K resolution. The slight increase in size of the Xiaomi 18 is widely speculated in the industry to accommodate more powerful hardware, especially further optimizations to battery capacity and the cooling system.

In terms of imaging configuration, the Xiaomi 18 represents a milestone upgrade. Leaks indicate that the phone will feature a 200-megapixel ultra-large sensor main camera, making it the first model in Xiaomi’s standard flagship series to enter the 200-megapixel club. This high pixel count will significantly enhance its composition and cropping capabilities in complex lighting conditions.

In terms of core performance, the Xiaomi 18 series will be among the first to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 platform. However, due to cost constraints, the standard version of the Xiaomi 18 will most likely not feature the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 Pro. Current leaks suggest it will be equipped with the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6, and there’s even a possibility it will continue to use the previous generation flagship platform, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5.

This trade-off in configuration is mainly due to the high cost of chips. Industry experts generally predict that the price of a single Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 Pro chip using TSMC’s 2nm process will easily exceed $300, which is equivalent to about 2,000 yuan.

This price is almost equivalent to the price of a mid-range mobile phone. The extremely high cost pressure forces manufacturers to make more rational choices regarding the standard version.
