The upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to showcase an expanded Infinity-O front camera design

Smartphones see at least slight aesthetic updates every year and early reports suggest the Galaxy S26 Ultra will be most recognizable for its revised camera layout, reintroducing the elevated plateau style look.

According to a newly surfaced rumor on X, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to feature a more prominent front-facing camera, which comes as an unexpected twist.

If accurate, Samsung will effectively make the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s camera hardware more prominent, enhancing its presence on both sides.

For those with a micrometer handy and an eye for detail, the source shared measurements to compare your current phone with Samsung’s next flagship. The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Infinity-O selfie cutout reportedly measures 4mm across.

According to the report, this represents the largest Infinity-O cutout ever seen on any Galaxy S Ultra model. Interestingly, the front facing camera itself is reportedly identical to the S25 Ultra’s.

Because the source appears very confident in this report, it’s reasonable to assume that the 4mm diameter wasn’t merely a speculative guess based on third party screen protector designs.

Speaking of these screen protectors, they have previously confirmed yet another notable design change for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. It’s corners will be noticeably rounder than on the S25 Ultra.

In a sense, examining the mockup screenshot above, the larger diameter of the selfie camera may look more fitting on the phone with rounder corners, while the smaller cutout appears to suit the S25 Ultra’s sharper corners better.

However, there is no confirmation that this was an intentional design decision by Samsung. The source of the rumor attributes it to budget saving efforts, though that seems more like speculation. Other factors might also be at play.

It will be interesting to see if the Galaxy S26 and S26+ have big Infinity-O cutouts like the Ultra. They are likely to share the Ultra’s selfie camera.

The Galaxy S26 series is getting close. Samsung probably can’t keep secrets forever. Reports suggest a January announcement and a February global launch for the phones.
