The vivo X500 debuts with Sony’s new sensor: a 1/1.28-inch ultra-large sensor + LOFIC technology.

Fast Technology reported that Sony officially launched its new flagship image sensor, the LYTIA L910. Industry sources indicate that this flagship sensor, infused with Sony’s latest technology, will debut in the vivo X500 series, with the corresponding new device expected to be officially released in September this year.

The LYTIA L910’s basic hardware specifications have reached the top tier of current consumer-grade sensors. It has a large 1/1.28-inch sensor area, 50 million effective pixels, and a single pixel size of 1.22μm. In high-resolution mode, it can output photos with sufficiently sharp details, and it can also ensure the amount of light intake in low-light shooting scenarios, while taking into account both image resolution and low-light sensitivity.

Moreover, this sensor features the new LOFIC technology, which stands for Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor.

Its core principle is to add a high-density dedicated capacitor next to each photodiode in the mobile phone image sensor, which is specifically used to collect photoelectrons that would otherwise overflow due to exposure saturation during normal shooting, thereby expanding the upper limit of the sensor’s dynamic range from the bottom up.

With this technology, when users shoot extreme scenes such as light boxes, the final output of the light and shadow effects will be closer to the real scene perceived by the human eye, and the bright areas in the picture will almost never suffer from serious overexposure and loss of detail.

In addition to the standard LOFIC technology, the LYTIA L910 also features TCG-HDR triple conversion gain HDR technology. The two underlying technologies work together to accurately suppress overexposure in highlights and reduce noise in low-light environments, resulting in a significant improvement in image quality across all scenarios compared to the previous flagship sensor.
