Vivo S18 Series Will Come With Dimensity 9200+ and Snapdragon 7 Gen3

The Vivo S18 series, which has been generating buzz as a “new technological masterpiece” and “the first batch of AI large model phones” from vivo, is also touted as the “2023 smartphone beauty ceiling.”

Jia Jingdong, the Vice President of the vivo brand and General Manager of Brand and Product Strategy, shared details about the vivo S18 series on Weibo. The Pro version of the vivo S18 is set to feature the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset, which has scored nearly 1.6 million in benchmark tests. The standard version of the vivo S18 will be equipped with the third-generation Snapdragon 7, also a million-point scoring chipset.

The Dimensity 9200+ is built on TSMC’s second-generation 4nm process and includes a 3.35GHz X3 super-large core and three 3.0GHz A715 large cores, making it an enhanced version of the Dimensity 9200. The third-generation Snapdragon 7, released in November this year, also uses TSMC‘s 4nm process. It offers a 15% improvement in CPU performance over the first-generation Snapdragon 7 and features an Adreno 720 GPU, with a claimed 50% performance increase.

The third-generation Snapdragon 7 brings comprehensive improvements in performance, imaging, and AI capabilities. Additionally, the vivo S18 Pro will be equipped with the same Sony 50MP IMX920 flagship main sensor, 50MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and professional long-focus portrait lens as found in the vivo X100, along with a 50MP wide-angle dual soft light front camera.

Notably, the vivo S18 series will support the “Blue Heart” large model, promising “studio-level portraits.” Jia Jingdong explained that this doesn’t mean taking portraits in a studio with the S18, nor is it about finding differences with “DSLR-level portraits.” Instead, it’s about integrating the “studio master’s” deep understanding of light into the S18’s “sensing,” “supplementing,” and “spiritual” light, resulting in the most natural, interesting, and self-representative portrait photography.

The vivo S18 series is expected to bring groundbreaking advancements in smartphone technology, particularly in AI and imaging capabilities, setting a new standard for flagship devices.
