vivo X500 series debuts with LPDDR6 memory: speeds soar to 10.7Gbps, exclusive to the top-of-the-line version.

According to Fast Technology on June 29, all indications suggest that the release date of the vivo X500 series has been moved up to September. The phone will be the first to use the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro flagship platform, becoming one of the first Android flagship models to be equipped with a 2nm chip.

According to a blogger, the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro supports the latest LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 flash storage. To fully unleash the Dimensity chip’s full performance, the vivo X500 Pro Max engineering sample is equipped with LPDDR6 memory, meaning vivo will be the first to feature LPDDR6 memory in its mass-produced models. It’s likely that this specification will be limited to the top-of-the-line version.

In terms of specifications, Samsung’s LPDDR6 memory uses a 12nm process, with a transmission rate soaring to 10.7Gbps. It comes with 16GB of memory and features a dynamic power management system that can intelligently adjust power consumption according to workload, improving energy efficiency by about 21% compared to its predecessor and achieving a better balance between speed and power consumption.

Compared to existing LPDDR5X memory solutions, the arrival of LPDDR6 will bring a qualitative leap. Whether it’s seamless switching between multitasking, real-time preview and analysis of 8K video, or efficient operation of complex AI tasks, LPDDR6 can provide a smoother and more effortless experience, further enhancing the overall performance ceiling of flagship phones.

Of course, significant performance improvements are often accompanied by higher costs. Since last year, memory prices have soared, and major brands, including Apple, have successively raised product prices, putting severe cost pressure on the entire industry.

Against this backdrop, the combination of 16GB LPDDR6 memory and the 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro is destined to be expensive, so it will most likely only be available in the top-of-the-line version, becoming a truly exclusive configuration designed for users with extreme performance.
