Vivo

vivo X500 series, is confirmed to debut in September: first to feature the Dimensity 9600 Pro processor.

According to multiple sources, several domestically produced flagship phones will be launched starting in September, featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 and MediaTek Dimensity 9600 series chips. These flagship platforms are all built on TSMC’s 2nm process, signaling a new round of intense competition in the high-end smartphone market.

According to the blogger Digital Chat Station, the vivo X500 series is confirmed to be released in late September. The new flagship will be the first to use the Dimensity 9600 Pro flagship platform, and the phone has already obtained network access permission.

It is reported that the vivo X500 series will be the industry’s first domestic flagship phone equipped with a 2nm chip. The Dimensity 9600 Pro it is equipped with uses TSMC’s N2P process, which is more advanced than the N2 process used in Apple’s A20 Pro at the same time.

In terms of CPU architecture, the Dimensity 9600 Pro abandons the traditional 4+4 design and instead adopts a brand-new 2+3+3 all-large-core tri-cluster architecture. Specifically, it includes 2 ARM C2-Ultra ultra-large cores, 3 C2-Premium large cores, and 3 C2-Pro medium cores, with the ultra-large cores having a main frequency of close to 5GHz. Compared to the previous generation Dimensity 9500’s maximum main frequency of 4.21GHz, this frequency represents a leap forward.

Meanwhile, the Dimensity 9600 Pro integrates Arm’s next-generation Magni GPU architecture, natively supporting hardware-level ray tracing, game frame interpolation, and super-resolution. The chip also features a new NGP neural acceleration unit, coupled with the SME2 high-efficiency AI instruction set, significantly accelerating response speeds in scenarios such as local large-scale model computation and real-time image processing.

In terms of storage specifications, the Dimensity 9600 Pro is among the first mobile platforms to support LPDDR6 high-speed memory and UFS 5.0 flash memory, resulting in significant improvements in file read/write speeds and background persistence capabilities.

Besides being the first to feature the Dimensity 9600 Pro, another major change in the vivo X500 series is the addition of a Pro Max version. This means that the vivo X500 series is expected to launch with three models simultaneously: a standard version, a Pro version, and a Pro Max version, further enriching the product lineup.

With its 2nm flagship chip and upgraded imaging system, this will be the most powerful imaging flagship in Vivo’s history.
