Xiaomi has ambitious plans for its upcoming flagship model, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The device is slated for release at the end of February or at the beginning of March at the latest, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra represents a comprehensive overhaul from its predecessors, not only in terms of imaging enhancements but also in advancements across communication, materials, battery technology, and the introduction of new features in satellite communication.
Increased Production Costs
This extensive redevelopment has led to a significant increase in production costs for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. Specifically, the Bill of Materials (BOM) cost has surged by more than 700 yuan, necessitating a corresponding rise in the retail price. Last year’s Xiaomi 13 Ultra, with a 12GB+256GB configuration, was priced at 5999 yuan.
In contrast, the starting price for the new Xiaomi 14 Ultra is expected to exceed 6000 yuan, which means it will touch the $1000 mark for sure. Xiaomi is marking a bold move in the industry to compete directly in the high-end market segment dominated by Huawei and iPhone.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra Focused On High-End Photography
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is poised to set a new standard in the realm of smartphone photography, equipped with a quad-camera setup that includes four 50-megapixel sensors covering a full range of focal lengths. The primary camera utilizes a 1-inch Sony LYT900 sensor with a variable aperture ranging from f/1.6 to f/4.0, ensuring superior light intake. Additionally, the device features a 3.2x telephoto lens, a 5x periscope telephoto lens, and an ultra-wide-angle lens, offering comprehensive coverage for various shooting scenarios and enhancing portrait photography capabilities.
In a departure from previous models, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will also abandon curved screens in favor of a fully symmetrical micro-four-curved screen, balancing aesthetics with ergonomic design.
As Xiaomi gears up for the launch of the 14 Ultra, the tech community eagerly awaits a device that promises to redefine high-end smartphone standards, particularly in imaging capabilities, while also venturing into new price territory.
