Xiaomi 18 Ultra will be unveiled next year.

According to Fast Technology on April 4, following the release of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra last December, the release schedule for the highly anticipated next-generation flagship, the Xiaomi 18 Ultra, has been adjusted.

According to industry sources, major manufacturers plan to launch their top flagship phones in the first half of 2027, which means that the Xiaomi 18 Ultra’s release date is also locked in for next year.

Currently, the Xiaomi 18 Ultra is testing a stunning 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. This lens boasts a super-large 1/1.28-inch sensor, representing a significant leap in light sensitivity compared to the previous generation’s 1/1.4-inch sensor, and its image quality at the telephoto end will once again break records.

In addition to the leap in sensor size, the Xiaomi 18 Ultra’s telephoto system will also introduce cutting-edge LOFIC technology and support continuous optical zoom. This technology ensures that the phone maintains extremely high image quality at different focal lengths, significantly expanding the creative boundaries of mobile photography.

When handling high dynamic range scenes, the new camera outputs images that more realistically reproduce the light and shadow levels of nature. Even in extremely bright shooting environments, the highlights of the image still retain rich details, effectively solving the overexposure problem commonly encountered in mobile phone photography.

Lu Weibing, president of Xiaomi Group, has stated that LOFIC technology represents the future direction of mobile imaging. This technology can accurately solve the pain points of shooting in scenes with high contrast between light and dark, and is a key step for high-end imaging products towards professionalization.

With the continuous maturation of underlying technologies, the Xiaomi 18 Ultra is clearly no longer simply pursuing the accumulation of pixel counts. Instead, it attempts to build a deeper moat of imaging technology in the ultra-large flagship market through fundamental innovations in optical systems and sensor technologies.
