Xiaomi MIX 5 returns this year: First magnetic lens + under-display front camera

XiamiTime has confirmed through analysis of Xiaomi’s internal code that the Xiaomi MIX 5 has entered the research and development stage and is planned to be released globally in 2026. It will be pre-installed with HyperOS 4 and become a major flagship of the MIX number series to return to the international market after many years.

The device’s internal codename is Hongkong, and its model number is Q5. According to Xiaomi’s naming rules, the letter Q represents the release cycle in 2026, while the number 5 clearly indicates that it belongs to the MIX series.

The K8 model number previously used for the MIX 4 has been assigned to the MIX Flip series, further confirming that Q5 is indeed the MIX 5.

In terms of core configuration, the MIX 5 will continue the MIX series’ exploratory positioning, equipped with a mature under-display front camera UDC to achieve a complete true full-screen display.

In addition, the MIX 5 has another major highlight: it will be the first to feature magnetic lens technology, which will significantly improve focusing and image stabilization capabilities.

The Xiaomi 15 series once showcased a magnetic lens, which Xiaomi called a “modular optical system.” The phone is equipped with a magnetically detachable lens, using a custom M4/3 sensor and an aspherical lens group to deliver a full 100-megapixel resolution, an equivalent 35mm focal length, and a large f/1.4 aperture.

Xiaomi’s modular optical system supports near-light-speed laser transmission, up to 10Gbps, and supports lossless RAW information transmission.

In terms of performance, it is expected to be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor, positioning it as a top-tier Android flagship.

The release date has not yet been finalized, but the code information clearly indicates its listing plan for 2026.
