Xiaomi’s Surge OS 4 official website is now live! A seamless and smooth experience.

According to Fast Technology on August 13, the official website for Xiaomi’s Surge OS 4 has been launched, introducing some new features. The main highlights are three aspects: soft light glass, smooth operation, and Super AI 2.0.

In terms of UI, Surge OS 4 takes a life-affirming aesthetic as its core design language and debuts a soft-light glass interactive material. It can sense the screen content and automatically adjust the panel transparency. Tap and drag operations are accompanied by a flowing light effect, which greatly enhances the sense of layering.

The desktop is fully customizable, with the lock screen clock position freely adjustable and notifications stacked and organized; it also supports one-click switching of folder size and stacking desktop widgets into groups.

The new flexible floating frame is compatible with mobile phones and tablets, simplifying operation on small screens and providing efficient column layout on large screens. The AI ​​notes and weather interfaces have been redesigned with dynamic visual effects.

In terms of smoothness, Xiaomi has optimized the underlying kernel to achieve a significant improvement in smoothness. The official statement is that it is “smooth and seamless”. It has added dual technologies such as load calculation and memory preloading, along with a dedicated application runtime environment.

Real-world testing data shows that after 9 hours of continuous use, the total startup time of 30 apps was reduced by 17.5% compared to the Surge OS 3; the camera cold start speed was shortened from 1043.6ms to 808.8ms, and the rear HDR shooting speed was improved by 23%; the average frame drop rate of short videos during long-term scrolling was only 0.11%, and the high-load desktop animations and the switching between portrait and landscape modes were smooth and lag-free.

The AI ​​core has been upgraded to Super Xiao Ai 2.0, built on Xiaomi MiMo’s self-developed large model, and adds two new interaction methods:

First, the task resides on Xiaomi Super Island, with the background running progress displayed in real time, and the result automatically pops up when the task is completed.

Secondly, the Inspiration Ball allows you to point and speak; simply point at text or images on the screen for one-click navigation, searching for similar items, generating schedules, and AI photo editing.

It features a built-in expert mode that allows users to select photos from their albums, plan trips, integrate smart home systems, and pre-adjust vehicles with a single sentence. It can also independently generate in-depth research reports, PPT presentations, and simple web pages. Furthermore, it supports cross-device dialogue between Windows and macOS and remote access to computer files.

On the privacy front, it features edge-cloud privacy computing, blocks sensitive queries when the screen is locked, requires secondary confirmation for data modification and external transmission, and supports one-click clearing of AI memory.

In addition, the full ecosystem of supporting functions has also been iterated simultaneously. Xiaomi Super Island has been expanded to 130+ services and a new independent settings page has been added. The integrated device center supports pinning devices to the top, one-click switching between multiple families, and adds features such as incoming calls from dual mobile phones with the same account and real-time synchronization of verification codes.

AI-powered voice recorder extracts key points from meetings and automatically generates outlines; Super Xiao Ai input method supports voice editing and Chinese-English translation; AI-powered call answering can automatically pick up calls and summarize key points, expected to launch in mid-September.
