The iPhone 18 welcomes two major upgrades: 12GB of RAM and a new Dynamic Island feature are included.

According to Fast Technology on August 13, unlike previous years when the standard and Pro series were released simultaneously, Apple will adjust the release schedule of its iPhone product line this year.

Apple will launch the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September this year, while the standard iPhone 18 will be delayed until 2027 and is expected to debut alongside the iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2.

According to 9to5Mac, analyst Jeff Pu reports that the standard iPhone 18 will receive two Pro-level upgrades.

Among them, the iPhone 18’s memory is expected to be upgraded from 8GB in the iPhone 17 to 12GB, directly matching the Pro-level models.

However, there are still differing opinions regarding the memory specifications of the iPhone 18.

Ming-Chi Kuo previously stated that the iPhone 18 might be equipped with 9GB of RAM; while Jeff Pu’s latest prediction suggests that the iPhone 18 will be upgraded to 12GB of RAM, while the iPhone 18e will have 9GB, with both models powered by the A20 chip.

In addition to memory upgrades, the iPhone 18 will also adopt the new generation of the iPhone 18 Pro series’ dynamic island design.

According to current leaks, the new version of Lingdong Island will be further reduced in size, in order to retain the existing interaction methods as much as possible while reducing the impact of the front opening area on the screen display.

It’s worth noting that Apple doesn’t usually bring the new design from the Pro models down to the standard version so quickly.

Taking the iPhone 14 series as an example, the Lingdong Island feature was initially only available on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 still used the notch screen, and it was not until the iPhone 15 series that it became available across the entire series.

Therefore, if this leak is ultimately confirmed, it means that Apple’s product strategy for the standard iPhone is changing.

Compared to the previously significant configuration gap between the standard and Pro models, the iPhone 18 is expected to offer further improvements in product capabilities.
