Last year Google rolled out AirDrop support within Quick Share for the Pixel 10 series allowing users to share files more easily with people using iPhones. This update made it simpler to transfer photos, videos and other content between Pixel devices and iPhones without complicated steps. Following the positive response the company is now extending this feature to a wider range of devices.

In an official post shared on X Google confirmed that Pixel 9 series is set to receive AirDrop support through Quick Share. The update will be rolled out in stages and will cover the entire lineup including the Google Pixel 9, Google Pixel 9 Pro, Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Users can expect the update to begin arriving within the next few days.

With this update the Pixel 9 series will now have the ability to share files directly with iPhone users through Quick Share. This improvement makes it more convenient for Pixel owners to transfer different types of files without relying on third party apps. The availability of the feature will likely depend on either a server side rollout which activates the feature automatically or a standard software update pushed to devices.

If you are feeling left out because this feature is currently limited to Pixel devices, there is some good news. Google has revealed that it intends to extend AirDrop support within Quick Share to a broader range of Android devices, not just the Pixel series. This expansion would allow more users across the Android ecosystem to benefit from easier file sharing.
