iPhone Ultra and 18 Pro both debut with the M16 OLED screen: exclusively supplied by Samsung.
The iPhone Ultra foldable screen and the iPhone 18 Pro series will both debut with Samsung’s M16 OLED screen. This is Samsung’s most advanced mobile phone screen to date, natively supporting 10-bit color depth display and achieving professional-grade color performance.
To date, the yield rate of Samsung’s M16 panels has stabilized at around 80%, far exceeding Apple’s minimum yield benchmark of 70%, ensuring sufficient reliability for mass production.

From a technical standpoint, the M16 OLED uses blue phosphorescent material instead of traditional blue fluorescent material, significantly improving luminous efficiency and power consumption control. Simultaneously, the screen eliminates the polarizer, reducing thickness while allowing for more uniform and softer light distribution, helping to alleviate eye strain and further improving energy efficiency and extending device battery life.
It’s worth noting that the iPhone Ultra only uses the M16 screen on the outer display, while its internal main screen uses the Samsung M14 panel. In terms of size, the iPhone Ultra features a 5.5-inch outer screen and a 7.8-inch inner screen, both of which use a single punch-hole design, resulting in a clean and simple form factor.
This time, the iPhone Ultra also abandoned Apple’s 3D face recognition solution that it had used for many years and switched to side fingerprint recognition. This is the first time in recent years that Apple has reintroduced fingerprint recognition on a high-end iPhone, marking an important adjustment in product design philosophy.
According to the plan, the iPhone Ultra and iPhone 18 Pro series will be officially unveiled in September this year.
