Last week, we got our very first glimpse of the iQOO 15R which is scheduled to launch in India on February 24. This device is notable for being the first ‘R’ series smartphone in iQOO’s numbered lineup. The brand had already highlighted certain features of the 15R and today it shared further information including details about the display. It has also confirmed that the device will have both IP68 and IP69 ratings which means it will be highly resistant to water and dust.
The iQOO 15R will feature a punch-hole AMOLED display with a high 1.5K resolution. It offers a fast and fluid visual experience thanks to its 144Hz refresh rate. The display also boasts a peak local brightness of 5,000 nits while the minimum brightness can drop to just 1 nit ensuring excellent visibility in both bright and dark environments.
The iQOO 15R’s display will come with HDR10+ support providing a richer and more vibrant viewing experience. It will also include a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for biometric security. While these features have been confirmed the official size of the display in terms of diagonal measurement remains unannounced.
According to an email we received from iQOO the 15R will be equipped with an 8MP ultrawide-angle camera on the rear. The brand had earlier confirmed that the device’s main camera will feature a 50MP Sony LYT-700V sensor and will support video recording at 4K resolution with 60FPS offering high-quality video capture.
Other features of the iQOO 15R that have been previously confirmed include the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor a large 7,600 mAh battery support for 100W wired charging and bypass charging technology. Additionally, the smartphone will include the Q2 Supercomputing Chip a 6.5K IceCore VC Cooling System and it will allow users to enjoy 144 FPS gaming in BGMI through frame interpolation ensuring a smoother gaming experience.
Out of the box, the iQOO 15R will run on OriginOS 6 and will continue to receive OS updates for four years as well as security updates for up to six years. In terms of connectivity the smartphone will support Bluetooth 6, Wi-Fi 7 and NFC. In addition, the smartphone will feature an IR Blaster with the base model priced at under INR 50,000 making it a competitively priced option in its segment.
