Apple assembles iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max in India for the first time

 people familiar with the matter revealed that Apple will produce the upcoming iPhone 16 series through its partner Foxconn.

This time, Apple will assemble the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in India for the first time. The Foxconn factory in Tamil Nadu, India will undertake the assembly of the Pro series . The India-made iPhone 16 Pro series will be launched and sold locally in India.

Supply chain sources said that Foxconn is the main OEM factory for iPhone, iPad, MacBook and AirPods, and is currently the largest iPhone manufacturer in India. Apple chose to assemble the iPhone 16 Pro series in India, and Foxconn will also benefit from this.

It is worth noting that India recently announced that the import tariff on mobile phones would be reduced from 20% to 15%. Apple lowered the price of its iPhone series in the Indian market, but it is still much higher than the prices in the United States, China and other markets.

Specifically, the iPhone SE will be reduced by about 2,300 rupees (27.5 US dollars), the iPhone 13, 14 and 15 series models will be reduced by 3,000 rupees (35.8 US dollars), and the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will be reduced by up to 6,000 rupees (71.7 US dollars), with a price reduction of about 3~4%.
