Chinese version of iPhone 17 Air has begun assembly: the era of no card is coming

Blogger Majin Bu exposed the SIM card slot of the iPhone 17 Pro engineering machine, confirming that Apple still retained the physical SIM card. The related topic also made it to the hot search list, sparking heated discussion.

In this regard, blogger Dingjiao Digital pointed out that except for the Air, the iPhone 17 series will retain the traditional SIM card. He also revealed that the iPhone 17 Air production line began assembly as early as July. These assembled models include the domestic version, which means that the iPhone 17 Air domestic version eSIM is likely to be launched, and the domestic version of the iPhone will enter the card-free era.

According to the information, unlike traditional physical SIM cards, eSIM can be directly integrated into the motherboard of the device and achieve network connection by remotely downloading configuration files. It not only saves internal space of the device, but also brings a more flexible and convenient network connection experience.

It is reported that the iPhone 17 Air will replace Plus and become Apple’s new product line. The phone focuses on lightness and thinness. Its thickness is about 5.5mm, making it the thinnest model in Apple’s history.

Due to its thin and light nature, the battery capacity of the iPhone 17 Air is less than 3000mAh. In order to extend the battery life of the 17 Air, Apple has equipped it with its self-developed baseband chip C1. Although the C1 baseband is more power-saving than Qualcomm’s baseband, it does not support 5G millimeter waves.

The phone will officially debut in September.
