vivo Pad5 Pro Soft Light Edition was officially announced today and will be released on December 15th at 19:00, debuting alongside the new S50 series products.

The official highlights of the device have been announced: a 13-inch 3.1K ultra-clear eye-protection soft light screen, powerful performance from the Dimensity 9400 processor, and PC-level WPS for efficient office work.

In other words, the new product maintains the core advantages of “ultra-thin and light + strong performance + high productivity”, and focuses on upgrading the 13-inch 3.1K ultra-clear soft light screen. It is paired with the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 flagship chip and the Blue Crystal chip technology stack to create a new benchmark for tablets that integrates “soft light eye protection, flagship performance and high productivity”, accurately meeting the needs of users in multiple scenarios such as learning, office work and entertainment.

As the industry’s first tablet to be equipped with the Dimensity 9400, the performance core of the vivo Pad5 Pro Soft Light Edition comes from the hardcore strength of MediaTek’s flagship chip, as well as the joint tuning of five tracks of vivo’s Blue Crystal chip technology stack. From the hardware level to software optimization, it fully releases the dual advantages of “high performance + low power consumption”.

The Dimensity 9400 uses TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process, increasing transistor density by 20% compared to the previous generation. It integrates a PC-grade Arm v9 architecture, creating an all-large-core CPU configuration of “1×3.62GHz Cortex-X925 super core + 3×Cortex-X4 large cores + 4×Cortex-A720 large cores”—eliminating the performance bottleneck of small cores. Single-core performance is improved by 35% compared to the previous generation, ensuring smooth multitasking; multi-core performance is improved by 28%, easily handling heavy-load tasks such as AI photo editing and 4K video editing.

In terms of GPU, it is equipped with Immortalis-G925, which has a 41% performance improvement and a 44% reduction in power consumption compared to the previous generation. With hardware-level graphics rendering optimization, it can run mainstream games such as “Open World Mobile” and “National Shooter Mobile” at full frame rate.

With vivo’s self-developed super-resolution and super-frame concurrency technology, and the support of the magnetic heat dissipation back clip, the performance mode+ can achieve 2.4K super-resolution + 120FPS super-frame dual-opening, combining image clarity and smoothness, turning the 13-inch large screen into a mobile game hall.

The energy efficiency advantage of the 3nm process is particularly crucial in tablet scenarios. The Dimensity 9400 reduces power consumption by 30% at peak performance compared to the previous generation, and reduces power consumption by 25% in daily office work. In addition, the Blue Crystal chip technology stack has been deeply tuned for performance, display, gaming, AI, and communication, further optimizing resource scheduling. For example, it automatically reduces unnecessary computing power in meeting scenarios and concentrates GPU performance during gaming, realizing on-demand allocation of computing power.

In terms of battery life, thanks to the 12050mAh large battery and chip energy efficiency optimization, it can support 11 hours of conference calls and 16 hours of online movie watching, completely eliminating battery anxiety and ensuring that you always have power when you pick it up.

The core upgrade of the vivo Pad5 Pro Soft Light Edition lies in its 13-inch 3.1K ultra-clear soft light screen, which is specially designed for “long-term eye use scenarios”. Through a special soft light process on the screen surface, it solves the pain points of traditional tablets such as “strong light reflection and eye fatigue after long-term use”, making it especially suitable for students, writers and creative people.

Unlike the standard version’s glossy screen, the soft-light version generally uses a paper-like surface treatment, which can effectively scatter ambient light. Even when used outdoors in strong light (such as under the midday sun), the screen has no obvious reflection, and the text and images remain clear . At the same time, it reduces the stimulation of the retina by screen glare, and visual fatigue is significantly reduced when reading e-books, taking online courses, or writing handwritten notes for a long time.

The screen display quality remains flagship-level, boasting a 3096×2064 ultra-high-definition resolution, a 144Hz e-sports-grade refresh rate, and a maximum brightness of 1200 nits. Combined with a DCI-P3 cinema-grade wide color gamut and a professional monitor-grade color accuracy of ΔE≈0.8, the color transitions are delicate and natural, meeting the professional creative needs of Photoshop retouching, design sketching, and other tasks. It achieves global color consistency—the display effect is consistent between the tablet and the computer, avoiding color differences that could affect the output of the work.

The eye protection technology achieves “full-link coverage”: it has passed the TÜV Rheinland hardware-level low blue light certification, and is equipped with more than 10 eye protection technologies developed by vivo’s visual health laboratory. It can intelligently adjust the screen color temperature and brightness according to the ambient light, so it is not dazzling when used at night and easy to use during the day.

With the vivo Pencil 3’s 9ms low latency and 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity, the handwriting experience is close to that of real pen and paper, making it “responsive and seamless” when taking notes or drawing sketches.

Previously, the standard version of the system was equipped with OriginOS 5 HD, which was specially customized for tablets and was deeply optimized for “office and study” scenarios. It also supported PC-level WPS and could seamlessly connect to the editing progress on the computer.

In addition, it supports universal document functionality, covering 59 mainstream file formats (such as Pages and Keynote), allowing direct viewing and editing without downloading a third-party app, and also supports mutual conversion between 42 formats; the tablet industry’s first Android-customized version of CAJViewer allows academics to directly read and annotate professional documents, and the Chinese-English translation function solves the pain points of foreign language documents.

In terms of AI productivity tools, the built-in XiaoV Writing supports the creation of various text types such as speeches and resumes, and provides one-click intelligent formatting; AiPPT Assistant can automatically generate outlines and PPTs based on themes or documents; XiaoV Notes supports simultaneous interpretation and AI transcription in scenarios such as Tencent Meeting and DingTalk, with key content automatically marked and minutes generated immediately after the meeting ends.

In terms of multi-device interconnection, it also supports PC extended screen and is compatible with both Windows and Mac systems. The tablet can be used as a secondary screen for the computer to expand the field of view. The vivo remote PC control function allows you to remotely control the computer to edit documents and transfer files. When traveling for business, you don’t need to bring a computer; you can work remotely on the tablet. The free small window function supports running multiple apps at the same time, allowing you to look up information and write documents at the same time, doubling your efficiency.

According to official teasers and industry predictions, the core configuration of the vivo Pad5 Pro Soft Light Edition is the same as the standard version, with only the screen technology being upgraded. It is expected that the starting price will be 200-300 yuan higher than the standard version (8+128GB 2999 yuan), and the final price may start at 3199 yuan.
