With almost every new entry in Samsung’s Galaxy S Ultra series, the company has rolled out a refreshed display protection solution. Each generation typically comes with a newly developed glass that delivers improved durability, greater resistance to scratches and reduced screen reflections along with other incremental enhancements.
Based on a new leak, the South Korean tech giant’s next major non foldable flagship, the Galaxy S26 Ultra appears set to continue this pattern. Reports suggest that its display protection could be advanced enough to potentially remove the need for using an additional screen protector.
On X, well known tipster Ice Universe claims that Samsung plans to outfit the Galaxy S26 Ultra with a next generation version of Gorilla Glass. The advanced glass technology is expected to tackle the usual durability and scratch related issues that often require the use of a screen protector.
As per their claims, the advanced anti-reflective coating will eliminate glare related issues, potentially removing the need for matte or anti-reflective screen protectors. Additionally, the CoE non polarised light technology could make “ultra clear high transparency” films unnecessary while the new generation of Gorilla Glass boasting “ultra high strength” may eliminate the requirement for tempered glass screen protectors. On top of that, the introduction of a new screen privacy feature is expected to remove the reliance on separate privacy films.
Since you may no longer need to purchase a screen protector, you could save money that would otherwise be spent on one. Without a screen protector applied the device may also feel slimmer and lighter during everyday use. In many cases, screen protectors and phone cases do not pair well, leading to fit or usability issues but this may not be a concern with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. As time goes on, Samsung’s next flagship is increasingly shaping up to be a major step forward.
