Huawei Chief Focused On Expanding HarmonyOS 4 Ecosystem In 2024
Huawei’s Chief Operating Officer of the Terminal BG, He Gang, recently updated his Weibo account, revealing a significant direction for the company in 2024. He Gang stated that 2023 was an extraordinary year, marking the beginning of native applications for Huawei’s HarmonyOS. As 2024 begins, this year is poised to be a pivotal one for the full evolution of the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
He Gang expressed that Huawei has always aimed to provide consumers with a smarter, smoother, and more secure experience through HarmonyOS. In line with these goals, HarmonyOS 4 has been designed with many new, fun, and useful features. The current situation indicates that the time for HarmonyOS to maintain compatibility with the Android ecosystem is diminishing. Several app manufacturers have already transitioned to Huawei’s ecosystem and are developing apps for it.
Yu Chengdong, another executive at Huawei, has hinted that the company will launch products this year featuring native HarmonyOS applications and experiences, which he believes will establish HarmonyOS as the true king of operating systems in China. According to previous statements from Huawei representatives, the exact launch date of these products is still uncertain. In the future, iOS, HarmonyOS, and Android are expected to be three independent systems.
Currently, major domestic apps in China have begun developing versions of the pure HarmonyOS system. Once HarmonyOS becomes completely incompatible with Android, the real test will be the capability of the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
