Huawei Launches MatePad Edge 2-in-1 Tablet PC with 28W TDP and Massive Memory
At grand all-scenario product launch, Huawei unveiled the new MatePad Edge alongside the latest Mate series. The company presents it as a versatile two-in-one device that can function both as a tablet and a laptop. Starting at 5999 yuan, the MatePad Edge takes full advantage of HarmonyOS’ strong integration capabilities, allowing users to switch easily between tablet, stand and PC modes. Files, accounts, and apps automatically stay in sync across these modes offering a continuous and consistent experience. This approach goes beyond simply combining two device types it creates a unified ecosystem that integrates performance, interaction and convenience.
The MatePad Edge comes with a large 14.2 inch flexible OLED display that delivers a sharp 3.1K resolution of 3120 × 2080 pixels. It supports a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and has an impressive 94% screen to body ratio with ultra-thin 4.1mm bezels giving users a more immersive viewing experience. To enhance visual comfort, especially during long hours of work the display feature Cloud Clear Soft Light Screen technology. This technology uses advanced nano etching and nano magnetic anti reflection processes to reduce glare and eliminate flickering. The display is also TUV Rheinland Eye Comfort 3.0 certified, its means that it meets high standards for eye protection.

The device supports smooth interaction through its three flexible modes. When used in PC mode, it can be paired with the new Huawei Star Leap Floating Keyboard turning it into a laptop like setup. This mode offers a comfortable opening angle 1.8mm key travel and a large full area touchpad making it feel familiar for productivity tasks. In tablet mode, the magnetic keyboard can be removed allowing users to enjoy a thin and lightweight large screen tablet that works perfectly with the HUAWEI M-Pencil Pro. This stylus supports side rotation and pinch gestures making drawing and note-taking feel natural. Stand mode is made possible by an innovative magnetic stand that attaches instantly and provides stable, comfortable viewing angles for watching videos, browsing or joining online meetings.

Even though the MatePad Edge is only 6.85mm thick and weighs just 789g, it still delivers impressive performance thanks to its advanced cooling system. The device uses a through type air outlet design with nearly 4,000 vents, along with dual fans, vapor chambers and micro pump liquid cooling film technology. Together, these elements allow it to maintain a stable 28W performance output. It is also the first Huawei device to support 140W super fast charging. Powered by the HarmonyOS AI PC architecture, the MatePad Edge introduces several AI based tools, including Xiaoyi Image to PPT, Xiaoyi Canvas and the Xiaoyi Knowledge Base, helping users be more productive and creative.

The MatePad Edge Liquid Cooling Edition uses the Kirin X90 chip while the Soft Light and standard versions use the Kirin X90A. The tablet’s rear camera setup includes a 50MP main camera with an F1.8 aperture and an 8MP wide angle macro camera with an F2.2 aperture along with a single LED flash. For the front, it has a 32MP wide angle camera with an F2.4 aperture. A 12,900mAh typical capacity battery powers the device and a six speaker stereo system provides strong audio performance.
Huawei offers the MatePad Edge in several configurations with prices starting at 5,999 yuan for the 16GB + 256GB model and going up to 12,999 yuan for the top end 32GB + 2TB Liquid Cooling Edition which comes with a keyboard. Other options include a 16GB + 512GB version priced at 6,499 yuan, a 16GB + 512GB Soft Light Edition at 7,299 yuan, a 24GB + 1TB model for 7,999 yuan and a 24GB + 1TB Soft Light Edition with a keyboard for 9,999 yuan.
