Huawei’s executive director, chairman of the Terminal BG, and chairman of the Intelligent Automotive Solutions BU, stated at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show that
the appearance of the first model of the “Zunjie” series will be officially released on November 26, when the new flagship smartphone Mate 70 series will also be released.

According to current rumors, the Mate 70 series will have four models, including Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+ and Mate 70 RS Extraordinary Master Edition.

In terms of appearance, the rear camera layout of the Mate 70 series is similar to that of the previous generation Mate 50 series. That is, three cameras and one sensor are symmetrically arranged in a large circular module. In the middle is the flash with the word XMAGE printed on it.

The Mate 70 series will most likely have a smoother transition between the edge of the camera module and the back of the body, and will no longer be as easy to accumulate dust as the Mate 50 series.

The rear camera module of the Mate 70 RS Master Edition continues to use the “octagonal” design, maintaining consistency with the design language of the previous generation.

In terms of materials, the Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro are expected to still use aluminum alloy frames, while the Mate 70 Pro+ will use titanium alloy frames, which will significantly improve the texture. The Mate 70 RS Extraordinary Master Edition will still use a ceramic back cover.

In addition, the screen bezels of the Huawei Mate 70 series will be further narrowed, and it is expected to come standard with a 1.5K 120Hz LTPO screen.

However, the standard version of Mate 70 will adopt a single-hole, straight screen design and only support 2D face unlocking; while the Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+ and Mate 70 RS Master Edition will adopt a three-hole, equal-depth four-curved screen design and support 3D face unlocking.

However, the fingerprint unlocking method of the Mate 70 series is no longer under-screen fingerprint, but side fingerprint unlocking, which has been confirmed by the phone case exposed online.

As to why there was such a change, it is still unknown.

In terms of processor, the Mate 70 series may be equipped with Kirin 9100.

According to the hardware detection information of the suspected Mate 70 prototype that was exposed, the CPU core is no longer a customized Taishan core, but uses the Arm public version CPU IP, which will include 1 Cortex-X1 super core with a main frequency of 2.67GHz, 3 2.32GHz Cortex-A78 large cores and 4 Cortex-A55 energy-efficient cores with a main frequency of 2.02GHz.

As for the GPU, it seems to be an Arm GPU, but there are also reports that it will use the same Maleoon 9000 GPU as the previous generation, but the specific number of cores is unknown.

In addition, the performance of the NPU core is expected to be further enhanced to provide end-side AI capabilities and support functions such as AI video, real-time translation, and text summarization.

In terms of imaging capabilities, the entire Huawei Mate 70 series will be equipped with a 50-megapixel variable aperture large-bottom main camera. The Mate 70 Pro and above models will also be equipped with a 48-megapixel 3.5x periscope telephoto (the standard version is a 12-megapixel 5x periscope telephoto), and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens (the 70 RS Extraordinary Master is a 40-megapixel ultra-wide-angle).

In terms of the main camera image sensor, the standard version of Mate 70 will use OmniVision Group’s OV50H sensor, while the main camera sensor of Mate 70 Pro and above high-end versions will be provided by Sony.

In terms of battery, the Mate 70 series may use a large-capacity battery made of the same silicon negative electrode material as the Mate XT. It is expected that the battery capacity of the Mate 70 Pro will reach 5500mAh.

In terms of system, Huawei Mate 70 series will be the first to be equipped with HarmonyOS NEXT. This is Huawei’s first mobile phone pre-installed with pure Hongmeng system, marking that the full-stack self-developed system will be officially commercialized. By then, the Hongmeng version of WeChat is also expected to be officially launched.

Earlier media reports said that they learned from people in the supply chain that Huawei’s Mate 70 series is currently being put into production, and the planned production of some components in November will increase by about 50% compared to the same period of the Mate 60. This also means that the supply of the Mate 70 series will be greatly improved compared to the previous generation Mate 60 series.

In terms of pricing, the starting price of the Mate 70 series may be higher than the 5,499 yuan of the previous generation.

In addition to the Mate 70 series, Huawei may also release a new folding screen flagship Mate X6. In addition, it may also include new tablets, routers, smart watches and TWS headphones, and the appearance of the first “Zunjie” model will also be unveiled at the press conference.
