Huawei Mate 80 series launch event highlights: First time in five years that Kirin chips will be introduced.

A tech blogger made predictions on social media regarding the upcoming Huawei Mate 80 series launch event. Among the predictions, it was noted that
Huawei will introduce its latest Kirin chip at the event for the first time in five years.

According to the blogger’s prediction, Huawei will also focus on the following at the Mate 80 series launch event on November 25:
further evolution of 5A-level communication capabilities, breakthroughs in satellite communication and low-orbit networking, significant improvements in chip performance and process (the first time in five years), the secrets and cutting-edge technology of the ring and side holes, significant improvements in battery life (14-day adventure mode for extended battery life), the 20GB RAM of the Mate 870 RS and the on-device AI capabilities of the Mate X7, as well as the new features, new characteristics, and new ways to use HarmonyOS 6.0.1.

The most anticipated highlight of the Huawei Mate 80 series launch event was undoubtedly the official unveiling of the Kirin 9030 processor. Since Huawei encountered chip supply chain restrictions, the company has not provided detailed updates on the progress of its Kirin chips at its launch events for several years.

Huawei’s high-profile showcase of the Kirin 9030 signifies a decisive breakthrough in the chip industry.

Reports suggest that the Kirin 9030’s transistor density even surpasses TSMC’s 3nm process, indicating that Huawei may have made significant progress in chip manufacturing technology.

CNMO also learned that the Huawei Mate 80 series continues the star-ring design language in its appearance, but incorporates new elements. In particular, the “ring and small side hole” mentioned in the official teaser has sparked widespread speculation. According to tech bloggers, the small side hole may be the air intake for the active cooling system, while the small ring in the middle of the wireless charging coil may be the air outlet.
