Huawei MateBook Fold was released today: featuring the largest waterdrop hinge and an 18-inch dual-layer OLED screen!

Fast Technology reported that Huawei officially held a new product launch event, showcasing a variety of new products across its entire ecosystem. Among them, the new generation MateBook Fold Master foldable laptop garnered far more attention than other product lines.

This new HarmonyOS foldable laptop features an 18-inch ultra-large screen, and when fully unfolded, the thinnest part on one side is only 7.3mm. It is available in three new colors: Sky White, Phantom Black, and Streamer Gold. The entire device adopts an integrated stand design and is also Huawei’s first foldable laptop that natively supports stylus operation.

In terms of screen specifications, the new Huawei MateBook Fold is the industry’s first laptop to feature self-developed patented dual-layer OLED + LTPO technology. It supports 3.3K ultra-high resolution, with a retina-level PPI of 229 and a peak brightness of up to 1600 nits. It also features LTPO adaptive refresh rate technology, resulting in a screen-to-body ratio of up to 92% and a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1.

This screen is compatible with the HDR Vivid standard, and the AR coating technology covering the surface of the device can significantly reduce ambient light reflection. The overall screen reflectivity is as low as 2.5%, and with the 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming design, it reduces the flicker stimulation of daily use from the source, making it less tiring for the eyes to work and look at content for a long time.

To support the stable opening and closing of the ultra-large folding screen, this new product is equipped with the industry’s largest waterdrop hinge. The hinge spindle is made of high-strength zirconium-based liquid metal, and the three-section hinge adopts a unique tenon and mortise damping architecture, which can output a huge torque of more than 11 kgf.cm in a very small internal space. It is also equipped with an exclusive segmented opening and closing hinge design, which is stable enough to be suspended at any angle, and the tactile experience of opening and closing is greatly improved.

In terms of battery life, this product has a built-in 75Wh high-capacity battery and supports 140W SuperCharge Turbo. It also supports up to 66W reverse supercharging, which can directly provide emergency power to mobile phones, tablets and other portable digital devices.

According to previously released official teaser information, the new MateBook Fold is equipped with the new Kirin X90 Plus processor. Leveraging deep collaborative optimization across software, hardware, chip, and cloud, the overall performance is improved by 25% compared to the previous generation. Combined with Huawei’s exclusive ultra-smooth Ark Engine and ultra-large memory technology, efficiency in large file processing and multitasking is significantly enhanced.

In terms of pricing, the previous generation MateBook Fold offered two storage versions: 32GB+1TB and 32GB+2TB, with official starting prices of 23,999 yuan and 26,999 yuan respectively. Given the current industry context of continuously soaring storage chip prices, the price of the new model will at least maintain the benchmark level of the previous generation, and there is a high probability that there will be no price reduction.

Huawei is continuing to invest heavily in the HarmonyOS PC ecosystem. According to the latest official details, since the first HarmonyOS PC was officially launched in 2025, the system has pushed out 45 rounds of iterative optimization versions. Currently, the average daily usage time of HarmonyOS PCs is basically on par with Huawei’s previous traditional architecture PC products. The related product lines have also completed the key leap from early small-scale single-product pilots to large-scale commercial use.

The number of native standalone applications on the HarmonyOS platform has grown from over a thousand at the beginning of the system’s release to over 19,000. The number of commonly used peripherals such as monitors and keyboards/mice has exceeded 1,700, and the number of professional office peripherals such as printers and scanners has reached over 1,600. Most common office peripherals can be used plug-and-play, and users can use them directly without having to manually download and install drivers.
