According to a report by Fast Technology on July 16th, blogger Digital Chat Station revealed that the Huawei Pura 100 series is currently under intensive development. Two screen prototypes for the series have been produced: a 6.6-inch mid-size screen and a 6.9-inch large screen, both featuring a 1.5K resolution flat design.
The 6.9-inch version is currently being evaluated for the adoption of dual-layer OLED technology. If it successfully passes the tests and is eventually commercialized, this screen will most likely be used in the higher-end Pura 100 Pro Max.
In fact, Huawei has already commercially deployed a dual-layer OLED screen on the Mate 90 RS Master Edition, which is considered one of the most advanced mobile phone display solutions in the industry. Its technical principle involves vertically stacking two RGB light-emitting units through a charge generation layer to form a “dual-layer light-emitting” structure.
When current flows through, charge carriers recombine and emit light in the first layer, while the remaining carriers pass through the charge generation layer and recombine again in the second layer. This design allows the two light-emitting units to share the current load, halving the burden on each layer under the same brightness conditions, thus achieving higher brightness output. The theoretical peak brightness can reach twice that of a single-layer OLED, while also effectively reducing power consumption and extending the screen’s lifespan.
Besides the potential highlight of dual-layer OLED, the imaging system of the Huawei Pura 100 series is also highly anticipated. This year’s Pura 90 series already featured a 200-megapixel RYYB sensor, a three-in-one super-focusing prism, and chip-level 200-megapixel RAW domain real-time processing technology, innovations that have significantly improved telephoto image quality.
As an iterative flagship, the further upgrades in imaging capabilities of the Pura 100 series are undoubtedly noteworthy. How to continue to break through on the basis of its predecessor will be one of the core mysteries before the series is released.
