Huawei’s wide-screen smartphone reportedly debuts today: pre-orders begin on the 28th.

According to a report by blogger Pengpengjun on August 20th, Huawei’s wide-screen smartphone will be unveiled today, and is expected to be announced at the Enjoy G9 and HarmonyOS Smart Mobility product launch event this afternoon.

The blogger also revealed that the phone will be available for pre-order on the 28th, and based on the timeline, it should be released in early September.

Although this product has been revealed for a long time, there have been no more detailed specifications. It has only been confirmed that it will use an aspect ratio of about 16:10, which is close to the unfolded display effect of the Pura X.

Its core objective is to bring the wide field of view of the foldable screen Pura X series down to a candybar form factor, significantly increasing the horizontal display area compared to regular 20:9 phones, and adopting a four-fold ultra-narrow bezel for an excellent visual effect.

A wider aspect ratio can reduce black bars on the screen when playing mainstream videos, bringing a more immersive audio-visual experience and improving operational efficiency whether watching videos or looking up information and documents.

For some games that are compatible with widescreen displays, a wider screen may also give users a competitive advantage in terms of field of view.

The core positioning of this new phone is to provide a wide folding experience as a replacement for traditional candybar phones, targeting users with limited budgets who want a wide field of view and long battery life, while avoiding the high price and fragility of foldable screens.

According to blogger Dingjiao Digital, the new camera’s design is relatively conservative, and it is expected to only have two classic color options: black and white. However, the pricing is a pleasant surprise, ranging from 6,000 to 7,000 yuan.

In fact, the current proportion of wide-opening folding phones is very well received. The reason why the coverage is relatively low is mainly because many users are still excluded by the price. The price of tens of thousands of yuan makes it difficult for people to try it.

The current high-performance straight-grip phone has significantly lowered the barrier to entry, which should greatly accelerate the popularization of wide-body phones.
