Fast Technology reported that the price of the iPhone 18 series became a trending topic on Weibo, sparking heated discussions.

According to reports, the prices of some versions of the iPhone 18 series will increase due to a significant rise in the prices of memory and storage chips.

Despite Apple’s strong supply chain control and bargaining power, the unprecedented price increase in memory chips will inevitably raise the production costs of Apple’s products.

Therefore, the starting price of the 256GB storage version of the iPhone 18 series remains the same as the previous generation, but the price of the larger capacity version will increase, and the price increase will also increase for each increase in storage capacity. This means that consumers who want to purchase the larger storage version will need to pay more than before.

This isn’t just a problem for Apple; the continued rise in memory and storage component prices has left major manufacturers with no other choice. This price adjustment may dampen market demand, and several analysts predict that iPhone shipments will decline this year.

Last November, Apple’s Chief Financial Officer Kevan Parekh admitted that rising memory prices had increased the production costs of new products, but he also emphasized that the company was properly managing various costs.

Analysts say the price difference between the various versions of the iPhone 18 series will widen, with the base model maintaining its original price to retain price-sensitive users. Core users willing to pay for higher storage will opt for the larger capacity version, but overall market demand will still be suppressed.
