Luo Yonghao re-evaluates the Xiaomi MIX from 9 years ago: It was truly remarkable.

Fast Technology reported that the eleventh episode of the podcast “Luo Yonghao’s Crossroads” was released today, with video creator He Tongxue as the guest.

During the program, He mentioned that he was quite obsessed with digital products when he was in school, and he would watch every new mobile phone launch event.

What impressed him most was the launch event for the Xiaomi MIX. “Nobody expected that Xiaomi could release such a stunning product in terms of appearance.” 

Luo Yonghao also agreed, admitting that the Xiaomi MIX launch event was amazing. He revealed that the Xiaomi MIX advertisement seemed to have been created by a British team, using the “black monument” concept from Kubrick’s film, which was “very impressive.”

He also mentioned a small anecdote—Smartisan had once planned to pay homage to the “Black Monument” sci-fi concept in a certain phone, but after seeing Xiaomi use it first, they had to cancel the plan. He praised, “(Their) execution was really excellent, unbeatable.”

“Then I bought the Xiaomi MIX and was amazed by it. I posted about it online, and later Lei Jun quoted my evaluation of the Xiaomi MIX in a subsequent press conference. The Xiaomi MIX is indeed a remarkable product, “ said Luo Yonghao.

It is understood that the Xiaomi MIX was released in October 2016. It was the first full-screen concept phone with a screen size of 6.4 inches. It was the flagship phone with the highest screen-to-body ratio at the time, and the price started at 3,499 yuan.

To achieve a “front that is almost entirely a screen”, the Xiaomi MIX moved the front-facing camera to the bottom bezel, had no logo, no physical buttons on the front, and eliminated the traditional earpiece, replacing it with screen sound technology for call audio.
