Meizu executives responded to the Meizu 22’s further delay: It’s a big blow to the brand and not intentional
Meizu Technology announced that the Meizu 22 has been postponed again and will be delivered in mid-to-early September. The official claimed that “there will never be a third time.”
This afternoon, Wan Zhiqiang, CMO of Meizu Group China, posted on Weibo that the two missed delivery dates have caused great damage to the brand. There are many reasons, but it was definitely not intentional. The main reason is that being late will lead to greater pursuit of perfection.
Wan Zhiqiang stated that internet hype is fleeting, always secondary to word-of-mouth. Branding is a long-term endeavor. After more than 22 years, there are few brands in the industry with a longer-term horizon. No matter how challenging it may be, everyone wants to succeed.
The significance of launching new products as early as possible may be that consumers can use them for a period of time.

“But for a brand and a company, there are so many things involved, such as the market competition environment, revenue, and product success probability, so the most urgent ones must be internal,” said Wan Zhiqiang.
According to previous leaks, the Meizu 22 main camera will adopt a 24mm focal length, equipped with a large aperture of F1.6, a telephoto lens with a focal length of 72mm, support an equivalent of 3x optical zoom, and an aperture of F2.4.
The front of the new phone is a 1.2mm LIPO physical four-sided screen, with a built-in battery of approximately 5500mAh and support for 80W wired fast charging.
