Nearly 7 million units sold! Huawei Mate 80 series sets a new sales record

Statistics show that as of the 24th week of 2026, the cumulative sales of Huawei Mate 80 series reached 6.9704 million units, less than 30,000 units away from the 7 million unit sales mark, securing the top spot in sales of domestic flagship phones released in the second half of 2025.

The model went on sale on November 28, 2025, with a market cycle of exactly six months. It was also the latest product to be released among the flagship models of the same iteration. Compared with its competitors, it naturally lacked a sales window, yet it still delivered an impressive market performance, fully demonstrating the product’s market acceptance.

In terms of pricing, the Mate 80 series takes a differentiated and affordable approach, with a starting price of 4,699 yuan, which is 800 yuan lower than the starting price of 5,499 yuan for the previous generation Mate 70 series.

In an industry environment where major mobile phone manufacturers are generally raising prices and increasing entry barriers for their high-end models, Huawei has bucked the trend by choosing a product strategy of increasing features and lowering prices. Core configurations such as imaging, battery life, and self-developed chips have been comprehensively upgraded, while prices have been lowered accordingly, significantly improving the cost-effectiveness of its product series and becoming one of the core factors driving continued sales growth.

Beyond the booming sales of hardware products, the HarmonyOS 6 ecosystem, which debuted on the new phones, is also experiencing rapid and large-scale development. Currently, the number of HarmonyOS 6 terminal devices in use has exceeded 66 million, the number of registered developers on the platform has exceeded 11 million, and the number of available applications and full-scenario services on the application marketplace has exceeded 400,000. This marks the complete departure of the HarmonyOS ecosystem from the early development stage and its full entry into a mature and stable operation cycle.

Leveraging the long-term and stable sales momentum of the Mate 80 series, Huawei has continued to consolidate its core market share in the domestic high-end consumer electronics market, achieving a sustained and strong comeback in the high-end market. The complete product layout with integrated hardware and software has formed a virtuous cycle, laying a solid user and market foundation for subsequent new product iterations and the expansion of the full-scenario ecosystem.

Editor’s Review:

The Mate 80 series’ sales of nearly 7 million units in six months are of great reference value to the industry. In the short term, the pricing strategy of lowering prices without reducing features accurately hits the pain points of the domestic high-end market, breaking the established industry convention that high-end phones only rise in price and never fall.

In the long run, the dual empowerment of blockbuster hardware and the HarmonyOS ecosystem proves that domestic high-end mobile phones do not rely on simply piling up hardware, but on a complete closed loop of self-developed chips, native system, and full-scenario ecosystem to stand firm in the high-end market.

This sales data also points the way for peers: competition in the high-end market has long since moved beyond parameter-based competition; the ability to develop integrated hardware and software is the core barrier for a brand to establish itself in the long term.
