No solution exists to eliminate controversial lock screen advertisements, although there is a caveat
With the release of Nothing OS 4.0 in October, which is based on Android 16, Nothing introduced a new feature called Lock Glimpse. This feature is designed to display ads right on the phone’s lock screen, but the name makes it sound more polished than it really is. Lock Glimpse has been included on the Nothing Phone (3a), Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, and Nothing Phone (3a) Lite, and it has sparked controversy among users. Even though users can technically turn off the ads, many have reported that the feature still uses a lot of battery power, making it somewhat frustrating for daily use.
Today, Nothing has decided to discontinue its experiment with lock screen advertisements, although there is an important limitation to note. The company will remove the Lock Glimpse feature from both the Nothing Phone (3a) and the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro. However, the feature will continue to appear on the Nothing Phone (3a) Lite and will also be included on future CMF devices, meaning that the experiment is not being completely discontinued across all products.

They explained that to provide strong overall value at a more affordable price point, some compromises are necessary. Lock Glimpse will come turned off by default and can be removed easily by users who want to do so. Nothing also plans to continue refining and improving the feature in future updates.
