One UI 8.5 Aims to Reduce Interruptions from Apps with Frequent Ad Notifications

Many apps tend to send too many ads as notifications which can be annoying. With One UI 8.5, it seems that Samsung will introduce a feature to tackle this problem. The system will apparently be able to automatically detect and block apps that overload you with advertising notifications so you won’t have to deal with constant interruptions anymore.

According to a post on X, One UI 8.5 introduces a new feature called “Block apps with excessive ads” which can be found in the Device Care settings menu. This feature helps manage apps that send too many ad notifications by putting them into deep sleep allowing you to enjoy a calmer less interrupted phone experience.

One UI 8.5 Will Automatically Manage Annoying Notifications

Deep sleep mode stops an app from running automatically in the background or sending notifications unless you open it yourself. At the moment, One UI only puts apps that haven’t been used recently into deep sleep. The new feature will extend this to apps that constantly bombard you with ad notifications helping make your phone experience less distracting.

The feature also includes an Intelligent Blocking option which is designed to make your phone experience much smoother. When turned on the device analyzes the notifications that appear on your phone to figure out which ones are advertisements. If it detects that a particular app is sending ads too frequently, it will automatically block those notifications. This is a major step toward reducing distractions and making daily phone use far less frustrating, as constant spammy notifications can be very annoying.

This feature can be very helpful, as long as you don’t need to use the apps that are sending these notifications too often. Each time you launch one of these apps, it comes out of deep sleep and notifications may start appearing again. So while the feature helps reduce spam, using the app often can bring back some of the interruptions.
