OnePlus 15R Set to Redefine Selfie Camera Standards in R Series

The OnePlus 15R is officially set to launch on December 17. Even before the official launch the company has already shared many important details about the phone. There is so much information available that it almost seems like the company is running out of new ideas. The launch might feel less surprising because so much is already known.

Today, OnePlus officially confirmed that the OnePlus 15R comes with the best selfie camera ever included in an R series phone. However, it’s worth noting that the R series hasn’t had particularly strong selfie cameras before so the bar was not very high. Still, users can expect a noticeable improvement in their selfie shots.

The OnePlus 15R comes with a 32MP front facing camera for selfies. That’s double the megapixels of the 13R which only had a 16MP camera. While megapixels aren’t everything when it comes to picture quality, the addition of autofocus is a significant improvement. This feature is slowly making its way into more mid range phones which means better focused selfies for everyone.

The OnePlus 15R will be able to record 4K videos at 30fps using its selfie camera, an upgrade from the 1080p capability of its predecessor. This will allow users to record more detailed and clearer videos. In addition, OnePlus has confirmed that the 15R will feature the same DetailMax Engine as the OnePlus 15 ensuring sharper and more detailed photos and videos.

The OnePlus 15R is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor and features a 165Hz AMOLED display with a “1.5K” resolution providing smooth visual and vibrant colors. It also comes with 7,400 mAh battery allowing users to enjoy extended usage without worrying about charging. By comparison, The OnePlus 13R comes with 256GB storage and 12GB RAM. It costs about $885 (€493). The OnePlus 15 5G comes in two versions: 256GB/12GB for $899.99 (€949) and 512GB/16GB for $999.99 (€999).
