OnePlus 16 debuts with BOE’s ultra-narrow bezel screen: the narrowest in its class

According to a leak, OnePlus ‘s upcoming flagship phone, the OnePlus 16, will be the first to feature a custom-designed ultra-narrow straight screen from BOE. This screen will be 6.78 inches in size, with a resolution of 1.5K and a refresh rate of 185Hz, making it the flagship phone with the highest refresh rate ever used by the OnePlus brand.

More importantly, this custom-designed flat screen features an ultra-narrow four-sided equal-sided design with a bezel width of less than 1mm, making it the narrowest model in its price range among flagship phones. It truly deserves to be called the ideal flat screen flagship for flat screen enthusiasts.

To achieve an ultra-narrow bezel, the OnePlus 16 features a newly upgraded LIPO packaging process, also known as low injection pressure overmolding. The core technology is to use high-molecular liquid materials to directly cover the screen’s ribbon cable area, completely eliminating the extra buffer protection area reserved in traditional screen designs and freeing up more space for narrow bezels from a structural perspective.

After this new packaging technology was implemented, it not only brought the visual immersion of the front of the phone to a level that previous flat-screen models had never reached, but also simultaneously improved the structural strength of the narrow bezel part of the screen. The overall drop protection performance and long-term stability of the front of the phone are much better than those of conventional narrow-bezel models.

In addition to the superior experience brought by the screen, the OnePlus 16 will also be among the first to be equipped with the Qualcomm flagship chip Snapdragon 8E6 Pro. This flagship chip is manufactured based on TSMC’s most advanced 2nm process technology, and its core energy efficiency ratio has been greatly improved compared to the previous generation flagship.

Publicly available hardware specifications show that both the standard Snapdragon 8E6 and the higher-end Snapdragon 8E6 Pro use Qualcomm’s fully self-developed Oryon architecture for their CPUs. The Pro version’s super core clock speed reaches close to 5GHz, making it the most powerful mobile SoC in the entire Android camp, capable of running all large and demanding mobile games at full frame rate.
