OnePlus announces the abandonment of the classic three-stage button: upgrade to custom button

OnePlus founder Pete Lau announced in the OnePlus community that OnePlus will abandon the classic three-stage button.

Liu Zuohu explained that OnePlus has received continuous feedback from users who hope that the phone can be equipped with a custom function button.

Therefore, the new OnePlus/OPPO products to be released will be upgraded to smart buttons, which will provide the same functions as the three-stage buttons, allowing users to freely switch between options such as mute and ring. At the same time, this custom button can also be set by users to other functions, thereby unlocking more functional gameplay.

According to the information, the classic three-stage button is OnePlus’s iconic design language. These three-stage buttons correspond to three functions: ring, mute, and do not disturb.

According to leaked information, the upcoming models such as OnePlus Ace 5S, OPPO Find X8 Ultra, OnePlus 13T, etc. will all be upgraded to smart buttons, and will no longer be the classic three-stage buttons.

According to the official announcement, OPPO Find X8 Ultra will be officially released in April.
