OPPO’s Zhu Haizhou: There’s a saying in the mobile phone industry now: “Crossing the river by feeling the beans.”

Zhu Haizhou, OPPO’s software product manager, posted an article saying that there’s a saying in the mobile phone industry now: “crossing the river by feeling the bean bun.”

He pointed out that the repeated occurrence of being forcibly kicked out by leading apps is unimaginable in the minds of traditional mobile phone manufacturers, but someone always has to take this step to test where the boundaries of industry development lie, how to open up the situation, and how to formulate regulations.

Zhu Haizhou expressed his respect to his former colleagues at Smartisan Technology, praising them as pioneers of this era.

According to reports, some users have found that when logging into a certain app using “Doubao Mobile”, they encountered an “abnormal login environment” message, which forced them to log out and prevented them from logging in normally.

Some users also discovered that the software system of “Doubao Phone” contained traces of Smartisan Technology, such as smartisan and smartisanos, further confirming the involvement of “former Smartisan Technology employees”.

Zhu Haizhou stated that the emergence of the “Doubao phone” serves as a wake-up call for mobile ecosystem manufacturers. In the current era of rapid AI technology development, mobile ecosystem manufacturers need to seriously consider how to reshape their business modules and business models. He emphasized that if a company’s business will eventually become a simple one-line task, then it must quickly build its own Agent (intelligent agent). Otherwise, it can only watch helplessly as its business is appropriated by other AI. Those traditional, cumbersome, and artificially “optimized” complex experiences are outdated in the new era.

It’s worth mentioning that Fang Fei, president of Honor’s product line, recently shared his views on the “Doubao phone”.

Fang Fei said that the addition of “Doubao Phone” to the AI mobile phone market has greatly excited Honor’s AI team.

After watching the relevant demonstration videos, Fang Fei found that the scenarios shown in the videos, such as making video calls with Doubao Assistant, having Doubao compare prices across the entire network, and adding coffee shops to favorites, coincided with Honor AI’s development path from specific tasks to generalized execution.
