Xiaomi is about to launch the MIX Trifold foldable phone.

According to XiaomiTime, a new Xiaomi phone with the model number 2608BPX34C recently appeared in the GSMA database. Industry insiders generally speculate that this model is the Xiaomi MIX Trifold, a three-fold phone in the MIX series.

Currently, only Huawei and Samsung have launched tri-fold screen phones globally, and Xiaomi is likely to become the third mass-produced manufacturer.

It is worth noting that although Xiaomi’s strategy for foldable phones is relatively conservative, it actually developed a similar three-fold phone as early as 2018, which was then named double fold.

In January 2019, Lin Bin of Xiaomi also showcased the actual device of this phone. Unlike the current solutions of Huawei and Samsung, Xiaomi adopted a vertical folding method, with the two sides folding behind the body to become a more square-proportioned phone, which is more like the design of the MIXα surround screen phone from back then.

Lin Bin revealed at the time that this folding design had overcome a series of technical challenges, including flexible folding screen technology, four-wheel drive folding hinge technology, flexible cover plate technology, and MIUI system adaptation.

According to patent diagrams of Xiaomi’s three-fold phone, the MIX Trifold will also adopt a Z-shaped folding design similar to the Huawei Mate XT series, allowing for three usage modes: single-screen, dual-screen, and triple-screen.

According to leaks, the Xiaomi MIX Trifold folding phone is expected to be released in the third quarter of 2026, competing with Huawei and Samsung.

In addition to the tri-fold design, Xiaomi’s large-fold and small-fold designs will both see iterative products in 2026.
