Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 Pro Special Edition Leaked: Uses 2nm Process, Samsung Exclusive

According to Fast Technology on January 30, TSMC’s 2nm process will officially enter mass production in the fourth quarter of 2025, and customers such as Apple, Qualcomm, and MediaTek will launch 2nm chips in the second half of this year.

Qualcomm’s first 2nm chip is named the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 series, which includes a standard version and a Pro version. Both of them will use TSMC’s N2P process , making it the most powerful mobile phone chip in the Android camp.

According to the blogger, in addition to the two SoCs mentioned above, Qualcomm also has a special version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 Pro, which uses Samsung’s 2nm process and is exclusively used by Samsung. No Chinese mobile phone brands have purchased it.

Compared to the TSMC version, the main change in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 Pro Special Edition is that the foundry has been changed to Samsung. It is also equipped with Qualcomm’s self-developed Oryon CPU, adopts a 2+3+3 architecture design, and its performance ranks among the top tier in the industry.

This chip will debut in Samsung’s own Galaxy S27 Ultra, and the new product will be unveiled in the first half of next year.

It’s worth mentioning that Qualcomm previously outsourced the manufacturing of several flagship chips to Samsung, such as the Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chips. However, due to severe overheating issues, Qualcomm switched to TSMC starting with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1.

The semiconductor industry has now entered the 2nm era, and foundry costs have risen significantly. In order to reduce costs, Qualcomm is very likely to return to Samsung in the future.
