Qualcomm officially released its new mobile platform Snapdragon 4s Gen 2. This chip is positioned in the entry-level market and uses Samsung’s 4nm process technology.

The CPU is an octa-core design, including 2 A78 cores up to 2.0GHz and 6 A55 cores with a maximum frequency of 1.8GHz.

This chip supports Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, 5G NR, up to 84-megapixel photo shooting and 1080P 60P video recording. It is also compatible with FHD+ 90Hz screen and up to 2133MHz LPDDR4X running memory.

Compared with its predecessor Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, many performance parameters of Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 have been reduced. For example, the CPU large core frequency has been adjusted from 2.3GHz to 2.0GHz, memory support has also been reduced from LPDDR5 to LPDDR4X, and it no longer supports 100-megapixel image sensors.

Taking all factors into consideration, Qualcomm Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 is a mobile platform for economical smartphones and is expected to be used in models priced in the hundred-yuan range. Currently, no specific model has been announced to be the first to be equipped with this chip.

In addition, Qualcomm also plans to release the higher-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 mobile platform in October this year. At that time, the Xiaomi 15 series is expected to become the world’s first smartphone equipped with this platform.
