Realme 12 Pro Series Boasts Periscope Telephoto Lens

Realme has officially announced that the Realme 12 Pro series will make its debut in Las Vegas. According to the promotional materials, the Realme 12 Pro series will be equipped with a flagship-level periscope telephoto lens, a result of a collaboration between Realme and Qualcomm. This feature is unique in its class, making it the only model at this price point to include a flagship periscope lens.

Typically, smartphones in the thousand-yuan price range use high-pixel main cameras and achieve multiple zoom levels through pixel cropping. However, the periscope telephoto lens offers a significant advantage. It uses optical zoom to capture distant subjects without losing image quality, even at high zoom levels, providing superior resolution. This technology also comes with a higher cost.

The Realme 12 Pro+ is reported to be equipped with an OV64B periscope telephoto lens, supporting 3x optical zoom and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). This sensor features a 1/2-inch large base, supporting 64 million ultra-clear pixels with a single pixel size of 0.7μm.

The Realme 12 Pro series has already received network access permission and is set to be officially released this month.

This announcement highlights Realme’s commitment to bringing advanced photographic capabilities to more affordable smartphones, setting a new standard in the industry.
