Realme 16 Pro+ is poised for launch: the previously omitted periscope telephoto lens makes a comeback.

Fast Technology reported that blogger Digital Chat Station posted a picture of the Realme 16 Pro+ packaging box on Weibo , saying, “The periscope telephoto lens is back.”

It is reported that the Realme 14 Pro+ is equipped with a Sony 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, supporting 3x optical zoom and up to 120x digital zoom.

However, the Realme 15 Pro removed the periscope lens, featuring a 50MP main camera and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens on the back, but no telephoto lens. This time, the Realme 16 Pro+ brings back the periscope telephoto lens, significantly improving the phone’s telephoto capabilities.

Compared to upright telephoto lenses, periscope telephoto lenses have a more complex and advanced structure, allowing for larger and higher-quality sensors, reducing limitations on the quality and characteristics of optical components in the optical path, and also accommodating better image stabilization modules, resulting in better image quality, longer focal lengths, and more stable shots.

Ordinary vertical telephoto lenses cannot accommodate large sensors, and their image quality is highly dependent on the sensor. Their zoom capabilities and image stabilization are also relatively average, but the advantage is that they are cheaper than periscope telephoto lenses.
