Samsung Exynos 2500 is back: 10-core design with lower frequency than Xuanjie O1

Samsung’s Exynos 2500 chip was originally planned to be used in the Galaxy S25 series, but because the Exynos 2500 encountered yield problems during the production process, Samsung eventually had to abandon the chip and switch to Snapdragon 8 Elite.

The latest news shows that the production yield problem of Exynos 2500 seems to have been solved, and the next Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 folding screen will be equipped with Exynos 2500.

It is reported that Exynos 2500 is built based on 3nm process technology, and the CPU is a ten-core design. The super-large core is Arm Cortex-X925, the large core is Arm Cortex-A725, and the small core is Arm Cortex-A520. The combination is similar to Xiaomi Xuanjie O1.

Specifically, the Exynos 2500 consists of 1×3.3GHz Cortex-X925+2×2.75GHz Cortex-A725+5×2.36GHz Cortex-A725+2×1.8GHz Cortex-A520.

Xiaomi Xuanjie O1 is composed of 2×3.9GHz Cortex-X925+4×3.4GHz Cortex-A725+2×1.9GHz Cortex-A725+2×1.8GHz Cortex-A520.

From the comparison, it is not difficult to see that Exynos 2500 has one more A725 core than Xuanjie O1, but one less X925 super core , and the frequency of both the super core and the large core are lower than Xuanjie O1, so the performance is expected to be weaker than Xuanjie O1.

It is reported that this time Samsung will sell the Exynos 2500 version of Galaxy Z Flip7 in most markets. The Snapdragon version will still be sold in the Chinese market and the North American market, equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. The phone will be officially released in July.
